The Linnaeus Hemp Competence Center announces that, effective March 1, 2025, its headquarters will be relocated from Zittau to Berlin. This decision is based on our unwavering commitment to creating an open, secure and internationally oriented working environment – a foundation that is essential for the scientific progress and innovative strength of our company.
Challenges in the Region
Despite extensive efforts, Zittau has so far been unable to provide the framework conditions required to meet the high standards of our international researchers. Since the last state election, it has become increasingly apparent that the political developments in the region are discouraging. The most recent political shifts, as reflected in the results of the 2025 federal election, confirm that the current conditions do not meet the necessary standards for a tolerant and supportive working environment. For us, ensuring research freedom, tolerance and innovative strength is of the utmost importance – values that are non-negotiable at any location.
The Future in Berlin
“Our decision to relocate the headquarters to Berlin is based on the firm conviction that only a politically stable and open environment can provide our international researchers with optimal conditions,” explains CEO Tarik Mustafa. “Berlin enables us to continue pioneering projects in hemp and cannabis research and to lay the foundation for future successes.”
